Why Visit Neelum Valley from Islamabad?
Neelum Valley is one of my favourite options for a mountain trip because the journey itself becomes part of the experience. You are not travelling to one attraction and returning. The scenery continues changing as you move deeper into the valley.
The usual route goes through Muzaffarabad and then continues along the Neelum River toward places such as Kutton, Keran, Dowarian, Sharda, Kel, Arang Kel, and eventually Taobat.

Muzaffarabad is basically the gateway to Neelum Valley. After reaching Muzaffarabad, you continue along the valley road toward your chosen destination.

Islamabad → Murree side → Kohala → Muzaffarabad → Pattika → Kutton → Keran → Dowarian → Sharda → Kel
Current travel guides generally place Islamabad to Muzaffarabad at around 155 to 160 kilometres, followed by another long drive into the valley. Keran, Sharda, and Kel are progressively farther from Muzaffarabad.

How Long Does It Take from Islamabad to Neelum Valley?

Public transport is excellent for saving money, but you lose some flexibility. You cannot stop everywhere for photography, tea, waterfalls, or viewpoints.

You first travel to Kel. From there, visitors normally continue toward Arang Kel using the local chairlift access and hiking route.
The attraction itself is not necessarily expensive compared with Ratti Gali.
